Best Foods to Eat While Trying to Lose Stomach Fat?

Question by Lasett Light: Best foods to eat while trying to lose stomach fat?
I am desperately trying to lose weight on my stomach, it’s the only place where I have fat.
What are the best foods to eat/not eat while on a strict diet and trying to lose belly fat?
Most people just tell me to do ab workouts and run, which I do, everyday. But I’m just not getting any results. I’ve hit rock bottom and am now taking laxatives every other day.

I am fifteen and I feel like I have quite the appetite, I do eat very healthy but I’m always finding myself wanting something sweet. Please help.

cabbage is good because it contains nothing. or you could eat fruit or spring salad with nutritional value but cabbage and iceberg lettuce fill you up appetite wise but dont do anything against your weight

6 meals and lots of water and veggies! I also recommend an exercise routine. check out my websites below to find one that suits you. P90X is definitely the most popular, but you might want power 90 or slim in 6 instead. Email me if you have any questions!

yes i’ve had the same problem in the past. it IS your diet at this point. try replacing all your bread with whole wheat or multigrain bread. then try and eat protein in the form of eggs (i like scrambled eggs with bits of ham and cheese inside mmmm :D ) raisin bran is a great cereal. hmm…also, instead of ice cream or cake try low fat frozen yogurt. but you don’t wanna cut ALL the fat out of your diet. try eating a handful of some sort of nut everyday to get your good fats.

OH and salmon has worked the best so far. you can also get your sweet fix by making a delicious fruit smoothie. i have the BIGGEST sweet tooth haha and that’s how i handle it. you’ll learn to LOVE fruit. mango, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry….soooo good. buy a book of smoothie recipes from borders or somewhere and try them out!

okay, so i’ve been on a diet for 3 weeks and lost 8 pounds, and i’m not on a strict diet at all and i don’t excercise. so with excercise i’m sure you’d be able to lose 10 pounds.

i cut out junk this :

sugar drinks (iced tea, soda)
caffeine (coffee, chocolate)
fried food (fried chicken, french fries)
fast food like mcdonald’s and chinese food
food like hot dogs, and ravioli, any kind of already made food
DAIRY (cheese, milk unless SKIM)

i left this junk in :
pizza (i had one slice with a big bottle of water and i put olives on my pizza, yum!) only ONE slice of pizza is OKAY if you have NOTHING else. and wipe off as much grease as you can. but if you really need to lose weight quick, don’t eat this
a small bag of chips (i’ve been having a bag every day =P) they’re only like 150 calories, again, if you need to lose the weight quick, don’t eat this!

ALSO, for your sweet cravings, this will DEFINATELY help!
cheerios with skim milk, and put one packet of splenda in it
i PROMISE it will help
every night around this time (midnight) i crave oreo cookies, with a big cold glass of milk, or a nice big chocolate chip muffin. like right now, i’m craaaaving it.
but instead, i have the cheerios. it fills my belly up, and the splenda sweetens it. have you ever eaten so much sweets, and than you see more, but you’re like “ew, i don’t want anything sweet anymore..” thats what the cheerios do for you. it’s like eating a bowl of frosted flakes, but splenda isn’t real sugar.

but if you’re GONNA cheat, or you NEED junk food or you’re gonna go to taco bell and order 4 tacos and a large soda, those are your two best bets, pizza and potato chips ^

ADD MORE :

fruits (bananas, kiwis, grapes, apples, watermelons, etc)
vegetables (spinach, broccolli, corn, etc)
EAT A HALF A CUP OF BEANS WITH YOUR LUNCH AND YOUR DINNER! it WILL help fill you up! eat about 5 greek olives or 7 spanish olives with every meal! it also helps to fill you up!

eat only GRILLED chicken, or fish with no bread crumbs, just plain flour

eat more salads, with a little bit of feta cheese, olive oil and vinegar, and some olives, DELICIOUS! throw half a cup of grilled chicken in there and it’s one of my favorite meals :)

you can have toast with butter, chicken noodle soup, grilled chicken with some garlic mashed potatoes, fish with spinach and beans, a turkey or tuna sandwich with lettuce and olives on whole weat bread!

dieting isn’t really that hard, the food is actually super delicious, it’s just stopping the junk food craving thats a little hard, but you’ll get used to it :)

i hope i helped, good luck!

oh and KEEP EXCERCISING!!!!!!

When you run, run in the mornings as soon as you wake up on an empty stomach. If you eat before running it will only burn the calories from your meal, and its unlikely to kick into your fat storages.

Eat 5-7 meals a day to get your metabolism up so you are constantly burning calories

Do NOT drastically reduce your calorie intake, find a calorie intake calculator to find how many calories you should be eating everyday, then reduce it by 500 which is a safe reduction.
If you reduce your calorie intake too much it will have a negative affect and store the fat

Also drink plenty of water, include oatmeal in your diet for fiber and carbs, and stick to a high protein diet, the protein, such as whey increase the temperature of calorie burn which burns more calories and it increase protein synthesis which in turn helps keep muscle mass and muscles will also increase metabolism and increase calorie burn.

okay, here are the top ten best foods that you can eat to get a flatter stomach. hope this helps! C:

1. Oatmeal: Your morning snack attack is caused by a dip in blood sugar levels. Fiber-rich oatmeal stays in your stomach for hours, staving off a doughnut run.

Watch out: Steer clear of the sugary flavored varieties. Choose the plain stuff, and sweeten it with berries.

2. Almonds and other nuts: Go nuts! They slim your tummy by keeping it full. A Purdue University study showed that people who ate nuts felt full longer than those who ate rice cakes. Stick to 24 almonds a day to satisfy your hunger pangs without overloading on calories.

Watch out: Skip salted nuts; too much sodium raises blood pressure.

3.Protein powders: It’s not just for gym rats! Protein powder contains amino acids that burn fat and build muscle. Add two teaspoons to a smoothie for a fat-busting drink. Find it at health food stores.

Watch out: Make that smoothie with fruit, yogurt, and low-fat milk — adding protein powder to a chocolate shake doesn’t make it health food (we wish).

4. Olive oil: Everyone needs a little fat — it controls hunger. Go for monounsaturated fats like olive or canola oil. They will help keep your cholesterol under control and satisfy cravings.

Watch out: Steer clear of hydrogenated vegetable oils; they’re loaded with unhealthy trans fat.

5. Assorted Berries: Berries stuff a lot of filling fiber into a tiny package: Just one cup of raspberries has six grams.

Watch out: Jelly is the junk food of the fruit world. It has almost no fiber and contains added sugar.

6. Eggs!: Eggs contain vitamin B12, which your body needs to metabolize fat. In fact, researchers at Louisiana State University found that people who ate eggs for breakfast every day lost more weight than those who ate bagels.

Watch out: Talk to your doc first if your cholesterol is high.

7.Beans: Beans are low-cal and packed with protein and fiber, which help you tone up and lose weight. Make a bean-heavy dish, such as burritos, instead of meat once a week. You’ll cut a lot of saturated fat and replace it with fiber.

Watch out: Refried beans are high in saturated fat. Choose plain black, pinto, or other varieties instead.

8.Whole grains: The right kinds of carbs are actually good for you. Choose whole grains — their fiber keeps you from getting hungry.

Watch out: Sometimes bread labeled “wheat” has been stripped of all of its fiber and nutrients. Look for “whole grain” or “100 percent whole wheat.”

9. Peanut butter: Who would have guessed that a kid-friendly food could be waist-friendly, too? PB is packed with niacin, which keeps the digestive system on track and prevents belly bloat. Just keep an eye on portion size: Peanut butter does have a lot of fat, so limit yourself to no more than two tablespoons a day.

Watch out: Pick all-natural PB, which doesn’t contain added sugar.

10. Lean meats & fish: Your body burns more calories digesting protein than carbs or fat. Want the leanest meat out there? Opt for turkey, but to cut down even more on saturated fat, choose fish. Go for tuna and salmon; they are full of omega-3s, which help prevent stress chemicals that promote fat abs.

Watch out: Cured meats and sausage have a lot of saturated fat.

********************PLEASE NOTE********************

Doing ab crunches and running will only show you results if you have no fat. These exercises are supposed to build muscles, which can be concealed by fat. So those will only show you results if you have no stomach fat. Also, the best thing to do is avoid gum and junk food, ( both of which cause stomach bloating)!

No matter what anyone in here tells you, spot reduction is a myth! You can’t decrease fat in any specific area on your body. Rule of thumb is the first place to gain is the first place to START to lose, and will probably be the last. I had an ex-gf who was really fit but she could never tone up her hips no matter what. This was all thanks to genes from her family… Total body workouts with a combination of resistance exercises and fully body cardio will help you out. Most importantly is your diet. You must fuel the machine that allows you to function. If you put junk gas in your car, your car runs like junk. Feed yourself junk, then you operate like junk. My diet rule of thumb for myself is, if I will regret eating it later, don’t eat it now. Good luck.
